As a wanna-be photographer, I always been pretty familiar with how camera lenses work and how to operate and adjust settings, to get the kind of photo you want. But recently I have really noticed how superior the working of my eyes are, to that of my camera's lens! Think about it. How awesome would it be for a picture to come out exactly the way you saw it? For those blue eyes to be just as bright, lit up, and brilliant as in real life? To be able to capture the precise and intricate details of those blades of grass, or get the fluidity of the hundreds of raindrops on film? Our eyes are one of God's most wonderfully complex and awesome creations! Here are some quotes from different scientists on the subject:
“The eye has often been compared to a camera. It would be more appropriate to compare it to a TV camera attached to an automatically tracking tripod-a machine that is self-focusing, adjusts automatically for light intensity, has a self-cleaning lens, and feeds into a computer with parallel processing capabilities so advanced that engineers are only just starting to consider similar strategies for the hardware they design.”
- David Hubel, Nobel Laureate in Physiology/Medicine

Dr. Jay L. Wile's explanation on how complex the eye's process of focusing is:
"So the eye needs to focus light from the object on the retina, but doing so by moving the lens is simply too inefficient. How does the eye do it? It changes the shape of the lens itself! The lens is attached to a smooth muscle called the ciliary muscle. When this circular muscle is relaxed, it automatically pulls on the lens so that the lens is thin. This causes the eye to focus far away objects onto the retina. If the eye needs to focus on objects nearby, the ciliary muscle contracts, and the lens becomes fat. This mode of focusing is significantly more efficient than that which can be achieved by the best cameras made in the world!"
And even more importantly, some scriptures that state how marvelous all the workings He designed are:
Proverbs 20:12
Psalm 94:9
Proverbs 29:13
Psalm 139:14
And you know what? None of Nikon's, Canon's, or Leica's most expensive lenses can even begin to compare with the technically intricate inner-workings of the human eye. You could never spend enough money on a lens, that would even start to work the way your eyes do! :) How cool is that?
Thank you Jesus, for showcasing Your majesty and amazing ways through Your creation!

Love love love it!!! Great post! =)
