Yay, I'm very excited about this series. It will be a good challenge for me and I'm planning on using it to further my skills. ;)

In other news, spring is in the air over at our house! We have had 5 baby goats in the past 4 or so days. May I introduce you to.....

I don't have a picture of the brand-newest set of twins born this morning, but they were a boy and a girl. The little boy was dead when we found them. :( So Anna's thinking of naming the girl Eponine, seeing as she's "on her own". :\  We still have 3 or 4 does who are due to kid very soon, so we're looking forward to all the furry little dears. :) So, I want to hear---what's new with you all? A Spring to Remember :)

On the "Guess Who" family photo post, our winners were Carrie, Shi of Narnia, Maddie, and Kelsey! Congratulations--large families don't intimidate you.

(That, or you happen to know us really well....*eyes Shi, Maddie, and Kelsey sternly* ;)

Ahhhhh...it's been a great spring. :) I think back on last spring and see my vision crowded by hundreds of pounds of peas and a kindred measure of weeds. It was a good spring, but so busy with garden work that we had no time for anything else.
This year it's been one long, crazy, beautiful whirl of gaiety. Let me count the events...

Mid-April found me (Rachel) going off to the North Carolina mountains to the Maidens of Virtue retreat.

(Kudos to those who spot me in the mass. :)

We had a weekend or two of life's busyness and then the Wedding Marathon started. Daniel, Sarah, and I were down in NC with the Taylors/Hendersons 3 weekends in a row! :) The first weekend was a bridal shower for Anna Henderson-soon-to-be-Taylor. It was gobs of fun.

The second weekend was the music rehearsal, plus a movie-night for the girls! :) I was introduced to The Importance of Being Earnest and fell hopelessly in love with the dry wit of the story. :D (a review is forth-coming) I am now forever quoting it:

"Chins are worn very high at present!"

The third weekend was the wedding! The day began with all of us being unconscionably squished in the back seat. Honestly, the picture doesn't do it justice, beyond showing you how unbecoming the position of being squished is to me. I ended up on the front row of the back row, if that is possible. :P

It was a beautiful day with lots of pictures, cake, flowers, and photo-booths. The proper sort of wedding day.

When it was all over we were rather solomon-cross. Having to settle down to regular life after weeks on the lam. We were home last weekend and will be home this weekend, but the Wilson's Annual Memorial Day Picnic is this Monday! Don't tell anyone, but I think I'll make a pie to enter in the contest.  ;) *rushes off singing "Billy-Boy"*

It's been a marvelous spring (and the summer bodes to be this busy!) full of "ups and down, Mr. Clennam, ups and downs." ;) There have been high moments and low moments, beautiful days and stormy days, pure, bubbling happiness and cross-patch-draw-the-latch moods. But over all I think it's been a Spring worth remembering. :)

The Pollen-Hued Corridor :)

I thought it was high time we gave you an official catching-up of what is going on around our home. :) After all, we seem to talk about everything on this blog but What We Do and that is ridiculous.

As of a few weeks ago the heads of Taste & See Family Farm prayerfully decided that we are not growing produce for markets this year. We will still have a large garden and keep up the baking side of things, but for this year we won't be selling veggies. Truth be told we are a little relieved--last summer was worthwhile was *so* exhausting! We will enjoy actually having time to do things as a family that don't involve weeding, weeding, weeding and...Oh! More weeding. :)

Sarah and I have been spending every Wednesday filling orders for the online farmer's market we are a part of--we love it. Especially when there are extra Chocolate Chunk Cookies. :)

As a graduated girl I've had the chance to devote more time to my writing--I just finished my second "official" novel: The Scarlet-Gypsy Song. I wrote in in 4 months from conception of the idea to the finish line. I am rather proud of it.

Sarah's hammering away at the Latin and Algebra 2 and all that jazz. I think she likes it, however much she bemoans her lot. ;)

We are both standing on the pollen-hued edge of spring, looking down the corridor, and wriggling with happy anticipation. A friend is getting married on May 12 and we are to be helping with several things--all that means we will get to see several friends who live 2 hours away a heap more than usual. (!)

Down the corridor I see happy weddings, some dances, some graduations, some gardening, some writing, some time with friends, and altogether every sign of a happy and busy Spring! :)

We are only a step into March, and the summer activities are already in full swing. We had all the windows open yesterday to let the gorgeous weather in.

 

I was divided all afternoon between buying my nose in Les Miserables and dashing out to the porch to get some of the beauty. There's nothing like a contrast right? The French crime underworld vs. a delicate, beautiful spring day? ;)

On the way home from choir Tuesday, Dad bought us ice-cream cones. I lick my in a swirl, Sarah licks hers up and down...how do you do it?

 

It's slotted to be 85-90 degrees today, as we did yesterday. Crazy. :)

This afternoon Matthew's baseball begins--we are planning on going to this first game--I'm excited! (And no, it is not entirely because I spend the game nick-naming the players....There's Jesse, Peter Pan, the Goatee Man, The Duckling...yeah. :P)

We've been planting and transplanting seedlings for days and weeks now. Soon it'll be time to put them in the ground.

A couple of our goats are due to have kids soon! It is not definite by any means, but we're thinking the Matriarch of the Herd might be having triplets! She's huge.
